About the Site and the man behind it
TheOtherDoor (TOD) portal is a hub for improving your confrontational abilities. 'Confrontational' is big word to describe any situation involves opposing points of view. Whether when negotiating a deal with a business partner, trying to resolve a conflict with a peer or when selling your products to a client you are within a confrontational situation. The same is true when you try to influence your kid to clean up his room or to solve a problem with your spouse. Your daily life, whether on the plant you live in and whether job you have bring about many confrontational situations for you to mange.
TOD was created in order to enhance your confrontational skills – improve your conflict management, negotiation, sales, influencing skills along with giving you guidance about difficult conversations, consensus building and more.
Asaf Shani is the man behind TheOtherDoor. Asaf has been dealing with confrontational situations from January 1998. In the logo slider below you can see some of the clients he's been working with through the years.
After a few years as a consultant in the M & A (Mergers and acquisitions) department at Deloitte & Touche, Asaf turned to the fascinating field of confrontational situations. 'Armed' with academic background in economics, accountancy, law and philosophy (the later two in Masters Degree) Asaf train, consult and lead consensus building and cooperation enhancement processes in organizations world wide.
Origin of the Name TOD
Think of any confrontational situation, conflict for example, as a long hallway with many doors. Those who are untrained tend to enter the first door they encounter—most often the one marked “compromise.” See, there is always another door – another option to see things, analyze them and based on that, react. TheOtherDoor is a symbol of men's given right: choice. Unfortunately, around confrontational situations, we use born given right quite scarcely.
This is TheOtherDoor's mission: to enhance people's abilities around confrontational situations – their negotiation, conflicts, difficult conversation, and sales – in order to manage the situation as apposed to being managed by it. The 'situation' starts from within.
Bill is TheOtherDoor's presenter. You've seen him peeping through the door in the Shop icon located in the Home and About pages. Or here, with the rest of the figures:
Bill is right to his wife Helen, to his left his daughter Anna, and to Bill's far right you can see Martin, Bill's employee and to Bill's far left you can see John, Bill's strategic client.
Along 2014, TheOtherDoor will upload advance courses where you can see Bill and the 'gang' undergoing different life situations whereas Bill gradually learns to better manage himself, and based on that the people around him, in different confrontational situation.
“Bill” is each and every one of us making way in the path of increasing one's confrontational ability.
